So much for renaming it after King Charles III !

I always thought it daft to name it after him, given that he played no part in its creation and used to deny access on Dartmoor when he was Prince of Wales.

The proposal sounds daft! I wonder if King Charles might intervene as it’s HIS named coast path?
I’d love to join the meeting; I will check the IoW Ramblers website & see if they’re wanting signatures for a petition.

Oh my god these people. What is actually wrong with them. They’re supposed to hold places in trust for the nation. And for the massive inheritance tax dodge obviously.

Quite – I’ve a road a few yards away from my front door. I’m not trying to get it closed to deter burglars!

The EH website says that their main concern is security, but surely they must have security systems in place. A lot of museums and galleries are in city centres, with people walking past them all the time.

They do and I think it’s nonsense. I doubt many burglars need a right of way before they burgle anywhere. Someone said to me that EH staff don;t want to lose their exclusive access to the beach – whether or not that’s true I don’t know.

I think with a lot of our coasts crumbling, the Coast Path will probably mostly have to move inland soon.

The All Englan Coast Path is designed as a wide access strip beyond the existing path to take account of this.
