Thanks, John! I’ll look for this book on Abebooks as I use them a lot. I read recently that during the Enclosures (1750-1850) many miles of hedge (200,000ml) were planted! I suppose it’s those hedges that we in our lifetime have seen being grubbed-up & mourning their lose?

Indeed, although of course not all the enclosures came under the Enclosure Acts. Some, such as those in the westcountry are much older.
